What are anxiety attacks?
Im not some psychologist or science expert but i'll try my best to explain how I feel everytime I get these attacks. These occur mostly without me even knowing what im anxious about or why I feel this way. My heartbeat just starts to get faster, I begin to sweat (epecially my hands), I have a hard time breathing and I start to lose sense of everything around me. With my personal experience, they only last 10 minutes the maximum for me but some people experience it for 20 minutes or more. Anxiety attacks are just basically our brain telling us that somethings wrong or youre too stressed about so much stuff that start to pile up and so your mind couldnt handle it so you break down which causes anxiety.
Its just like being stuck in a room with foxes in a cage. When the cage breaks down due to to much pressure inserted by the foxes, the foxes will start to attack you making you defenseless.
How to deal with anxiety?
These are few tips and excersises I do when I anxiety attacks. It has been really helpful and effective for me.
1. Try to get out of a place with too much people so that not more stuff would get you distracted and cause you to panic more because of the people who would start crowding you.
2. Start with getting conscious on your breathing. Inhale and exhale to get back your proper breathing patterns.
3. Once you're back on track, start taking a deep breath, inhale, count 1-2 and exhale. Keep on doing this until you've calmed down a bit.
4. Shake your hands {dance to shake it off ((im kidding))}.
5. Try to talk things out with yourself. Think about the positive things and those things which would help you forget about all the things your stressing about during that time.
• during times you really cant breathe anymore, it would be most useful to grab a paper bag and breath in and out of it to avoid blacking out or better yet ask an adult for help.
I hope this short post helped you guys on dealing with your attacks. I know how bad this could feel and how I wish nobody ever felt like this. It would be a really good idea to consult a councillor or someone who you think could help you if you cant cope with it anymore. I felt brave and told our school's councillor about my attacks and she helped me a lot and talked me through everything. This is totally human nature but people shouldnt be suffering this and should know how to deal with stuff like this. I would like to hear from you guys so leave your comments down below. Thank you so much for taking time off to read through this! ❤️
